Nissan
Forklift (Barrett) - Training Video Series
This client is an American subsidiary of
Nissan Corporation and manufactures forklift
trucks. Because they have so many models,
it is important to do proper maintenance
training for the repair and maintenance
personnel.
In
1999, this client approached us with training
videos that had already been produced in
English and needed them translated and re-voiced
in Spanish using the existing video as it
was then available. No footage could be
edited. Our translator completed the translation
and then watched the video while timing
out the sound bites in the new Spanish script.
The translator then edited the Spanish sentences,
shortening them so they would time out exactly
with the English.
In
this case the translator had the advantage
of being experienced voice talent so she
also did the voiceover in our studio. Again,
she was able to listen to the English and
make sure her Spanish matched exactly for
time with the English. The client was very
pleased with the end result and the cost-effective
techniques we employed. In 2000, Nissan
Forklift contracted Pacolet International
Translation, Inc to write, shoot and produce
a new series of training videos for maintenance
personnel. This series was done in English
and all production was done by Pacolet International
staff and associates.
Sundstrand
Corporate Ethics Series
This client was going through corporate
changes at the executive level and needed
to produce a video to explain the changes
to employees around the world. The client
had an in-house video studio so they were
able to shoot and edit the video themselves
in English, but worked with Pacolet International
Translation, Inc to make sure it would be
easy to translate the video and dub a new
voiceover, and new words on screen (i.e.
cg’s) in Spanish, French, and Chinese.
Our
translators watched the English video, translated
the script, and timed-out the new scripts
so they would match the English exactly.
We then took our talent into the recording
studio where they listened to the English
while recording their various languages,
to make certain the timing was perfect.
The client then edited the new voices into
the videos himself. Although he did not
speak Spanish, French or Chinese, the editing
was virtually no work for him because we
provided three turn-key digital audio tapes.
All he had to do was start our tape (music
bed included) when he started his English,
and mix the new voice onto his new master
tapes.
The
project was hailed by Sundstrand Executives
and a great success and the videos were
subsequently shown in Florida at
a National Aviation Conference later that
same year.
